This year's Great Glen Challenge saw 25 teams taking part in aid of RSABI (the Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution).

They had to tackle a gruelling route between Fort Augustus and Fort William with a 49km mountain cycle, a 6km kayak and an 18km walk followed by a 17km run.

In addition to rigorous training and immense effort on the day, teams also worked hard to raise funds and awareness for RSABI, a charity which provides support to people in Scottish agriculture which had set an ambitious fundraising target of £50,000.

So far nearly £49,000 has been raised by those taking part.

Alan White of event sponsors Gillespie Macandrew, said: “As long-standing advisors to the sector, we are all too familiar with the challenges facing those working in agriculture and just how invaluable the work of the RSABI is in providing support.

"Our teams thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and the opportunity to spend time with their peers in glorious surroundings.”

Mr White also handed out prizes to both the winning teams and individuals.

The overall team winner was Scottish Woodlands, with last year’s winners, Shannoch, taking second team place. The Royal Bank of Scotland team came third.

Individual awards went to Edward Fletcher for mountain biking, Mark Donald for kayaking, David Michie for running and joint first place walking winners were Rebecca Drummond, Neil White and Andy Glasgow.

Participating teams included Bank of Scotland, Bell Ingram, Bidwells LLP, the Crofting Commission, Davidson & Robertson, Galbraith, Gillespie Macandrew, James Hutton Institute, Johnston Carmichael, NFU Scotland, Royal Bank of Scotland, SAC Consulting, SAYFC, Scottish Woodlands, SP Energy Networks, Tarff Valley, Thomson Cooper Accountants, Thorntons, and Virgin Money.
