FRIENDS of a life-long football supporter are mourning his loss.

Clachnacuddin Football Club fan, and director, Colin Morgan, who was in his early 90s, passed away on Friday.

Known as "Mr Clach", he had many roles in the club including linesman, committee member and club director

A spokesperson for Clachnacuddin said: "Everybody at Clachnacuddin was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former club director Colin Morgan yesterday evening.

"Colin was the original Mr Clach, as he occupied many roles within the club, from club linesman, committee member to club director.

"He was also instrumental in the set up and running of our club lottery, the LilyLotto.

"Colin put a huge amount of time, money and effort into helping run the former social club when it was open and we all became accustomed to seeing him running around at break neck speed, making sure everything was in place for whatever was happening in the club.

"Colin was a proper "Clacher" and a genuine friend to those of us who were lucky enough to have known him.

"He was admired and well respected throughout the whole of North football."

"The club would undoubtedly have been lost without his involvement and we cannot thank him enough for everything he did.

"As a mark of respect, our club flag was lowered to half mast today and we held a minute of silence ahead of kick off.

"Our deepest condolences go to his son David and the rest of the family.

"Sleep well Colin."

Friend and fellow football supporter William Corbett said: "I've known Colin through a lifetime involvement with Clachnacuddin Football Club, and we go back a long way.

"In fact we were both heavily involved in helping save the football club from liquidation in 1990, when the club was just minutes away from a Sherriff's hammer at Inverness Sherriff Court coming down on the club.

"But we managed to get a stay of execution. Colin, along with some others, came in with financial aid to keep the club going, after we had set up a Save the Clach Campaign.

"Something that will forever be in the club's history. He did so much tireless work for the club, including running weekly bingo sessions in the Old Clach Social Club, for club funds down to being the leading figure in the club's popular, "Lily Lotto Draw" which started back many years ago, and is still as popular today, and a great money raiser for the club.

"Like myself, Colin was just a Clach Football Club fanatic, and though he has had a lot of health problems over the years, he still remained a popular figure at the club, and will be sadly missed. My thoughts are all with Colin's family at this time."
