A ceilidh is taking place tonight (Friday) to raise funds for Highland Hospice and Inverness Ice Centre.

The fun event takes place at North Kessock Village Hall from 7pm until late.

Strictly Inverness dance partners Lia Smith and Sam Murphy are behind the event as part of their fundraising efforts for this year’s competition.

Proceeds will be split between both the hospice and the ice centre.

Tickets cost £20 per person with live music to be provided by the Highland Fire wedding band. There will also be a bar and raffles on the night.

Tickets can be bought online.

Also fundraising this weekend is Simone Stewart who has organised a “dress for less” day at the ice centre on Saturday.

The event encourages the fashion-concious to clear out their wardrobe of quality clothes that are going unused and sell them at a stall to others who may find a use for them.

There will also be entertainment for children and a raffle and bake sale from 11am to 3pm.

Simone said: I’m excited for this day. All 18 tables have now gone.

“There’s lots of clothes for you all to come and see and get lots of bargains.

“I will be spending all day Friday baking too, so lots of yummy cakes and tray bake for you all!

“Don’t worry about the kids as we will have lots on to keep them entertained.”

Next Wednesday the Conon Hotel in Dingwall will play host to a pub quiz organised by dancers Karen Newman and Krys Rab in the hopes of raising yet more funds for the two causes. The Wee Big Pub Quiz starts at 7.30pm.
