ORGANISERS of the Highland Cross have announced charities chosen to benefit from the 2020 event.

The 38th annual 50-mile, coast-to-coast duathlon, held on June 20, will back five Highland causes.

They include CCAST Highland, a Tain-based community housing support service raising funds for a new people carrier and the Glenurquhart Care Project, who need an adapted minibus.

Other charities set to benefit from new vehicles are In This Together, for their handyperson scheme, and Reach 4 Reality for their youth outdoor pursuits programme. The fifth cause is Oxygen Works, raising funds for an oxygen generator for their oxygen chamber.

Highland Cross co-founder Calum Munro said: “The independent selection panel identified five brilliant causes. Planning is already well under way and we have a hugely over-subscribed list of teams eager to take part.”
