Highland Council election: The full slate of those standing is released revealing that the wards across Ross-shire are some of the most contested in the region with 34 candidates targetting just 18 seats

The full list of candidates seeking to represent the Ross-shire area at Highland Council has been confirmed by the local authority.

In all there are five wards across the wider Ross-shire area – Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh; Cromarty Firth; Tain and Easter Ross; Dingwall and Seaforth; and the Black Isle.

In all there are 34 candidates across all the wards vying for 18 seats making them some of the most contested areas in the whole region.

Voters will go to the polls on May 5 to elect a new Highland Council.
