Seventeen new homes have been added to the Highland Council's stock of rental properties.

Highland Council has confirmed that they have taken possession of 17 new properties in Dornoch.

The new homes, located on Elizabeth Crescent in Dornoch, will be used as mid market and social rental properties.

The new energy-efficient properties include a range of wheelchair accessible builds and a number of family homes.

A spokesperson for Highland Council said: "The homes were built by O'Brien Properties Ltd and the project has delivered four homes for mid market rent for Albyn Housing Society Ltd and 17 homes for social rent for the Highland Council.

"The funding was supported through Scottish Government grant and City Region Deal funding. The council build is the first in Sutherland since the early the 1990s.

"The properties have been allocated to applicants on the Highland Housing Register through our agreed allocations policy."
