Highland Council has agreed the extra public holiday.

An additional public holiday on Friday, June 3, 2022 has been approved at a meeting of the Highland Council.

The extra public holiday is to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and 70 years on the throne, in line with UK government arrangements.

There will be no change to the council’s existing public holidays.

Highland Council offices and schools will be closed with minimal service provision on June 3.

A request will be made to the Scottish Government for the council to reduce the number of teaching days to accommodate the additional public holiday.
