TEN fresh cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the NHS Highland area – as the number of Scotland-wide cases rose another 366 to 9038.

There are now 211 positive cases in the Highland area, with 68 patients in hospital with confirmed or suspected coronavirus last night – five of whom were in intensive care.

Nationwide there have been 77 further deaths, taking the death toll from confirmed Covid-19 cases to 1062. In the NHS Grampian area, the number of cases rose to 550 – up an additional 31 since yesterday. Some 91 were receiving hospital treatment for suspected or confirmed coronavirus, while the number of people in intensive care fell to eight from yesterday's figure of 10.

There were 40 new cases of the virus in NHS Tayside, which has now recorded 1124 positive tests since the outbreak began.
