Twelve Highland community councils form uncontested – including Fortrose and Rosemarkie and Marybank, Scatwell and Strathconon – while three flop

Highland Council has announced that a total of 12 community councils have formed uncontested following the close of nominations yesterday.

They were:

• Acharacle Community Council;

• Cawdor and West Nairnshire Community Council;

• Duror and Kentallen Community Council;

• Fortrose and Rosemarkie Community Council;

• Marybank, Scatwell and Strathconon Community Council – at the second attempt;

• Nairn West and Suburban Community Council;

• Nethybridge Community Council;

• Slackbuie Community Council;

• Smithton Community;

• Spean Bridge, Roy Bridge and Achnacarry Community Council;

• Staffin Community Council;

• Strathdearn Community Council.

However, three community councils were not established as they failed to attract half the maximum membership.

These are:

• Kinlochbervie Community Council

• Kinlochleven Community Council – at the second attempt;

• Shieldaig Community Council.
