Highland bothies set to close for improvement works this spring

A number of bothies along the Cape Wrath Trail and in the Cairngorms are due to be closed during the spring.
Work parties will be undertaking major work at three bothies along the long-distance route.
The bothies will be closed while this work is carried out and anybody passing through is advised to carry camping equipment or make alternative plans for overnight stops.
Maol Bhuidhe bothy will be shut from April 19-30, while Strathchailleach will be closed from May 3-10.
Bearnais bothy is closed from May 25-June 1.
Emergency access will be available during these times.
Meanwhile, the popular Ryvoan bothy at Glenmore will be closed for works to remove the porch and lay foundations for a new replacement porch on April 28-29.
The Mountain Bothies Association said this would be the first of several planned work parties at Ryvoan over the spring and summer, to build a new porch and replace the roofing.

A work party will be taking place at the Red House bothy near Linn of Dee over Easter Weekend from March 29-31.
The bothy will be open throughout the weekend but is expected to be busier than normal. The toilet will be unavailable from the Friday morning until Sunday as it will be the main focus of the work party, and some other disruption is likely during the Saturday.
Glenbuck bothy remains closed until further notice due to hydro work in the immediate vicinity.
It is hoped that the bothy will reopen sometime this summer.
