Nagapattinam is in the state of Tamil Nadu in India, and due to the town's location on the coast, was a major port, trading with firstly Dutch, Portuguese until November 1871 when the town was conquered by the British East India Company.
Sir Hector was the ninth Commander in Chief of India between 1764 and 1765.
