FERRY and rail passengers in Wester Ross are being warned of possible disruption tomorrow – amid forecasts for gale force winds.

Network Rail has warned that services on the Kyle Line will be subject to speed restrictions which could delay services.

And CalMac has warned that its Ullapool-Stornoway ferry service could suffer disruption or cancellation depending on conditions.

A spokesman for Network Rail said: "We've just held an extreme weather teleconference to discuss our plans follow a forecast of heavy rain and high winds due overnight and into tomorrow morning.

"With wind gusts of up to 50mph expected, we'll be implementing temporary speed restrictions parts of the West Highland and Kyle of Lochalsh lines tomorrow.

CalMac meanwhile, took to its website to warn passengers that "due to adverse weather this service is liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice" on Saturday.
