After a year’s sabbatical, Word on the Street returns to Dingwall from May 18 to 20.
A key feature of this year’s event is a full day of events, on Saturday, May 20 in Dingwall Town Hall.
It will host a photographic exhibition and dance performance by Heartstone, crafting with Sharon Marshall, book browsing, Gaelic music and poetry, a typewriter exhibition and Dingwall Players' performances of Every Brilliant Thing by Duncan Macmillan.
There will also be an opportunity to have a hands-on experience in the Newton Room on the ground floor of the Town Hall.
Other events over the three days include workshops with Gaelic artist in residence, Marcas Mac an Tuairneir, Philip Paris talking about his new book The Last Witch of Scotland, guided walks with Jonathan McColl, a comedy night and workshops for Dingwall Primary School and Dingwall Academy.
Dingwall Players will be presenting two performances of Every Brilliant Thing by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe.
In the play, a young girl attempts to ease her mother's depression by creating a list of all the best things in the world.
Everything worth living for.
Through adulthood, as the list grows, she learns the deep significance it has on her own life. Every Brilliant Thing is described as "a hilarious and heart-wrenching play about depression and the lengths we will go for those we love".
The typewriter was first patented in 1868 and was first commercially sold 150 years ago. Print has come a long way since then but there are still machines being used or hiding away gathering dust.
A spokesman for Word on the Street said: "The Right Type will celebrate these brilliant inventions through a hands-on exhibition and we are looking for folk who have a typewriter to bring them along to Dingwall Town Hall at 9am on Saturday, May 20."
Word on the Street is supported by Highland Council and Bòrd na Gàidhlig.
