SEABOARD communities have been urged to help a local council "help those that most need it".

Balintore & Hilton Community Council made the plea amid the continuing hardship caused by the Covid-19 lockdown.

Many businesses have been put under intense financial strain and a host of people across the country have been furloughed on 80 per cent wages or have lost their job altogether.

Responding to the crisis, the community council said that it, Seaboard Memorial Hall, the Balintore and District Residence Group and Seaboard Cares were all working together "to get support for those who need it most.

"We are conscious that there are people who now have lost all source of income, or are now on 80 per cent of their wages, perhaps down to one wage only, or have been self-employed – whatever the circumstance that finds you in need of help, please be assured we are doing all we can with the generosity of partners," said a community council spokesman.

"We need your help to identify who needs this support so please, if you ca,n send us a private message, email us on info@seaboardcentre.com or leave a phone message at the Seaboard Hall on 01862 832888 or contact Norma on 07818024200 or message her privately.

"Let us know, your name, address, a contact number and number of dependants in your household and what category you fall into. This way we can add you to our list of families most affected by loss of income and who may be having difficulty in our area.

"Any information is treated with the utmost respect and privacy, we cannot help you to look after yourselves if we do not know who you are.

"These are horrendous circumstances for us all and when help is available from so many sources please get in touch with us so we can help you.

"Beautiful food bags have already gone out this weekend to over 180 families given by Lidl on behalf of the RVS.

"Unless your name is on our list, we cannot consider giving you help if we do not know who you are.

"We will continue to receive support in various ways over the coming weeks and months and we do not want to miss any of you out that need this help.

"Our local RVS put out fruit and veg boxes to their members last week, the members will be contacted again to see if they need more, although many said they would rather see this go to families who have been sorely affected by loss of income as their pensions are still there," they added.
