Trains will be delayed due to the heavy rains today.

The heavy downpours affecting the Highlands are expected to cause major disruption to train travels in the region this morning.

ScotRail have announced that train passengers travelling north on the line between Inverness and Thurso and Wick and on connections to Glasgow and Aberdeen will be impacted by delays.

This is due to speed restrictions in place following the forecast of heavy rain.

Disruption is expected to last until around 12pm today (September 18).

The services to Wick and Thurso will also be impacted by crew shortages and will not call at all stations.
