TWO people were taken to hospital after separate incidents which triggered two calls to a Ross-shire mountain rescue team on the same afternoon.

Volunteers with Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team were alerted around 2pm on Saturday after reports of a walker who had fallen more than 20ft and sustained a head injury in the Mullardoch hills between An Socach and An Riabhachan, north of Cannich.

Due to the incident’s remote location a request for A Coastguard helicopter to carry out the tasking was made. 948 (Stornoway) successfully carried out that tasking and the casualty was evacuated to hospital.

About an hour later, the team was alerted to attend an incident involving a rock climber injured at Moy crags, a popular climbing venue between Contin and Maryburgh.

Police Scotland Mountain Rescue Team also attended and the casualty was taken from the crag to the waiting ambulance to be taken to hospital.

A spokesman for DMRT said: “We wish both casualties a speedy recovery.”
