Genghis Kat, the Six Dinner Sid of Ullapool, is 'sorely missed' by his 'owners' and friends after going missing in mid-July.

In fact, this 'celebrity' cat has so many owners that a Facebook page had to be set up to keep a track of Genghis' adventures and whereabouts.

A few of his adventures include: catnaps at the local gym; a couple trips to the village's fire station and local care homes; sneaking in to Ullapool Primary School; a gander into Ullapool Library's Gaelic Bookbug sessions for toddlers; a wander into Tesco's supermarket; visiting the Old Surgery guest house; and numerous family homes.

Euan William Gordon, one of Genghis' many 'owners', believes that he may have been catnapped in mid-July.

Euan said: "Here is the story of Genghis Kat, where I believe he was snatched from outside our home on Ladysmith Street, Ullapool. A local gentleman was passing and spoke to a woman in her 20s about Genghis, while she was feeding him tuna in the back of her beige campervan. She was chatting to the cat about how friendly he was, and asking about who his owners were.

"That was the last we heard of Genghis we've had no sightings since then. He is a very loved family cat, and is sorely missed.

Euan continued: "We would love to have him back home with us. Genghis likes to roam the village, making friends along his way at his favourite places he liked to visit. He's bit of a celebrity... We even had to set up a Facebook page to keep track of him, where locals would post photos of him visiting their homes – everyone in Ullapool knows Genghis.

Local Kim Lamond said: "Genghis is such a lovely, friendly boy. He is known and loved by the community and famous for going on his rounds, popping into visit people in their homes and establishments! I hope he finds his way home and back to his family who are missing him very much."
