A DETERMINED trio of Ross-shire teenagers are nursing blisters after a 95-mile hike for heroes.

Fortrose Academy pals Calum Wylie, Ryan Jones and Lewis MacNamara, all 15, decided they wanted to do something for others after completing their recent round of exams.

They opted to walk the West Highland Way — from Milngavie to Fort William — in aid of Help for Heroes.

They were supported by local accountancy firm Emjay Partnership Ltd, who provided a support vehicle, accommodation and the rations for the journey.

The lads battled midges and blisters en route to their final destination.

The third day was to be a monster 25 miler — but after an assessment of the state of their feet, it was decided to end that day in the wigwams at Auchtertyre “for some rest and open foot surgery”.

So far, the boys have raised over £700 for Help for Heroes. Anyone wishing to donate can do so at www.bmycharity.com/2012WHW
