Famed whisky maker Glenmorangie has teamed with interior designer Russell Sage Studio to transform its boutique hotel into "a sensory playground" that reflects the distillery's story and creations.

Glenmorangie House at Fearn, just a few minutes away from the Tain distillery, has been redesigned with flavour-inspired rooms and features, tying the hotel and distillery even more closely together.

The hotel's dining room now reflects the heat of the distillery's copper stills, with copper elements incorporated into the dining table and molten-style candelabras, while the morning room’s golden wallpaper has been chosen to recreate the sense of walking in a field of ripening barley – one of the famous malt's main ingredients.

The whisky theme continues in the house’s six bedrooms, with features inspired by the taste of Glenmorangie such as burnt oranges and purples in the Sunset room, knitted cakes made by a local craftsmaker reflecting the sweet patisserie scents of Glenmorangie's Nectar d’Or whisky, while bespoke candles hint at the flavours of Glenmorangie’s flagship, The Original.

The three two-bedroom cottages situated next to Glenmorangie House have also been redesigned with different themes and elements such as furniture made from oak casks, a painting of germinating barley, and a magical portrait of head of distilling and whisky creation, Dr Bill Lumsden.

Guests can also look forward to specially tailored experiences, including the opportunity to explore Glenmorangie’s single malts, enjoy local food, try stargazing, learn about beekeeping at the distillery’s hives, forage for cocktail ingredients in the Walled Garden, play croquet on the grounds, walk deserted beaches and much more.

Thomas Moradpour, chief executive and president of The Glenmorangie Company, said: “By creating this sensory playground, we showcase the deliciousness of Glenmorangie and open up our world to more people. I believe we have crafted the most wonderful and unexpected travel experience, just waiting to be shared and enjoyed with our guests.”

Designer Russell Sage added: “There is such a spirit of joy around Glenmorangie – and we wanted to bring that to life at Glenmorangie House, with a sense of luxurious fun.

"From knitted cakes to bespoke candles, we have woven Glenmorangie stories and moments into every aspect of the experience, so there’s always something new to discover and enjoy.”
