Young Sutherland entrepreneur grows business as she takes on second grocery outlet in Dornoch

A YOUNG Sutherland entrepreneur has taken over her second grocery outlet.

Nicole Murray (24) has run Ben View Stores in Ross Street, Golspie, since January last year and is now taking over the Spar store at Dornoch Business Park.

A former Golspie High School pupil, Nicole completed an apprenticeship as a child practitioner and worked in that role for some time

But, in need of a change, she joining Ben View Stores as manager when the Spar outlet was run by her father, well-known East Sutherland retailer John Murray.

He has now relinquished complete control to Nicole and is not involved in either business, although he is on hand to give advice.

Nicole manages three members of staff at Golspie and five in Dornoch where the shop is currently closed for refurbishment. It will stay as a Spar and open in early September.

Nicole said a greater range of products would be in offer in the revamped store which had become run-down.

She is introducing Food to Go – coffee, bacon rolls and so on – as well as Capaldis ice-cream, an has other changes in mind.

“A lot has happened in the last two years,” said Nicole. “I’m now looking forward to offering the best possible service to Dornoch.”
