Good turnout of buyers for rare and traditional breeds sheep sale at Dingwall Mart

DINGWALL and Highland Marts sold 169 adult sheep at their rare and traditional breeds sale with a good turnout of buyers for new format event.

Ewe with lamb at foot (49) sold to £3450 gross for a Valais Blacknose ewe with twin lambs at foot from

Inverlochy Farm, Tomintoul.

Gimmer with lamb at foot (11) sold to £2550 gross for a Valais Blacknose gimmer with twin lambs at foot from Inverlochy Farm, Tomintoul.

Lambs (67) sold to £170 gross for a Herdwick lamb from Rowanlea, Fort Augustus.

Ewes (27) sold to £40 gross for a pair of Shetland ewes from Upper Meadows, Dornoch.

Rams (13) sold to £180 gross for a Valais Blacknose ram from Inverlochy Farm, Tomintoul.

The verdict: “A good turnout of buyers for the new formatted rare breeds being held on a Tuesday, keenly bid for well-bred and well-presented lots of rare breed sheep. A highlight of the sale was the pure Valais Blacknose ewe with twin ewe lambs at foot which after an array of bidding was eventually knocked down at £1150 per life.”
