THE owners of Go Outdoors, which has a branch in Inverness, have announced they are preparing to call in the administrators as the three-month Covid-19 lockdown impacts on the business.

In a statement from Manchester-based JD Sports group, which bought Go Outdoors in 2016 for £112 million, it said it had looked at the options for the business and had decided to start the administration process.

Go Outdoors specialises in camping equipment, bikes and clothes and employs around 2400 staff in a total of 67 branches including the outlet in Inverness.

The company said it had filed a notice of its intention in court. This covers a 10-day period and offers protection from legal action and its creditors so that an administrator can be appointed.

No administrator has yet been found however it is understood Deloitte has been appointed to oversee the process.

Go Outdoors is one of a number of large high street names which have been struggling since lockdown measures were first imposed in March.
