The Active Highland Framework sees public agencies like NHS Highland commit to increasing uptake of activity ranging from gentle movement to sport to boost healthy living.

The launch at Dingwall Academy was attended by the head of the Scottish Government’s Active Scotland Division, Derek Grieve and coincided with High Life Highland’s Day of Dance Young Dance Leaders’ workshop at the school.

NHS Highland’s chairman David Alston said: “The crucial, overarching aim...is to reduce inequalities and encourage and enable people to stay active throughout their life.

“We want to utilise the stunning natural environment we have in Highland to develop greenspace projects while at the same time improve capacity in clubs and their dedicated volunteers to deliver a range of sports and activities throughout communities in the north of Scotland.”

High Life Highland, which runs sports centres on behalf of Highland Council, is also set to play a part promoting the aims of the project.
