A POIGNANT vintage tractor run, which raised over £16,000 for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS) last year, is set to take to the road again.

The Gars Tractor Run is run in memory of motor mechanic Gary Macangus, who died suddenly in December 2013.

Gary lived Dornoch but had strong links with Invergordon, where his mother and father, Suthers and Nan, ran a popular B&B.

After his death, Gary’s family decided to carry on the tradition of the run in his memory and raise funds for CHSS at the same time.

Last year’s tractor run was a huge success with 53 tractors travelling 53 miles. Gary was only 53 when he passed away.

Gary’s wife, Catherine said: “Last year’s tractor run raised an absolutely amazing total of £16,293.50p. Chest, Heart and Stroke were delighted with the effort put in for this great cause and are helping us organise this year’s event too.”

The tractor run, again 53 miles, begins in Dornoch Square at 10am on Saturday, June 13, and calls at Embo, Rogart, Lairg, for a lunch break, Invershin, for a light refreshment, and Bonar Bridge. On the last leg back to Dornoch there will be a barbeque at the Meadows Park. There will be an entry fee of £10 per tractor, which will go towards the cost of the lunch and the BBQ.

If anyone is interested in taking part in the run please contact either Billy on 07881415987, Robert on 07718927708 or Hughie on 01862 810162.

Tractors from three counties, Caithness, Sutherland and Ross, regularly take part in the run.

Sponsor forms are available in Evelix, Dornoch Service Point and Nisa, If anyone would like to sponsor online please visit http://www.justgiving.com/Catherine-Macangus2
