Andrew Cumming, a pupil at Gairloch High School, won an accordion prize at the cultural showcase.

He was winner of the contemporary under 19 competition at the Royal National Mod being held in Perth this week.

He was just one of a clutch of local winners, with Sophie Stewart, a first year pupil at Dingwall Academy from Conon Bridge, winning first places in both the 11-12 fluent solo signing girls competition and the traditional fluent solo singing event.

Sheena Amos, originally from the Black Isle, was also named Gaelic learner of the year.

The Mòd runs until Saturday, with highlights on BBC iPlayer.
