A fundraiser to support services for people living with a cancer diagnosis has been launched.

The charity, which has a centre in the grounds of Raigmore Hospital, launched its appeal saying it needed £10,000 each month to fund its services.

A spokeswoman for the charity said: "People with cancer need you now more than ever at Maggie's Highlands

"We are here supporting people with cancer and their families who are worried and anxious that their treatment plan might be changed and wondering what coronavirus means for them.

"We are here, giving the best possible support to people with cancer and their families at this incredibly difficult time.

"We have one-to-one phone, Skype, Facetime and email support.

"Our online community, run by psychologists, cancer support specialists and benefits advisors, is here to answer questions directly and post daily blogs on how to cope with self isolation or treatment changes.

"You can join our online kitchen table and chat to others in the same position."

She continued: "Everything we do depends on your kindness .

"We will always be there for people with cancer, but we need you alongside us.

"£10,000 would allow us to provide specialist cancer support through video or on calls for a whole month. Anything you can do to contribute will be making a real difference.

"Please do whatever you can to help by supporting us today."

The charity has set up a justgiving page that can be found by clicking here.
