POLICE have issued new information about what a missing Dingwall man was wearing when he failed to return from a hill run.

A major search has been ongoing in the Torridon hills for Alex Brett (65) who is believed to have headed to the area on Sunday to run a route covering Beinn Eighe, Beinn Dearg, Beinn Alligin and Liathach.

Police Scotland have now issued an updated clothing description as searches to trace him continue.

When he was last seen he was wearing red running shorts, a black puffa jacket, a small black back pack, a red and black bandana and trainers.

Mr Brett, who is an experienced hill runner, was reported missing on Thursday.

Search co-ordinator Sgt Alan Heath said: "We have had a few sightings reported to us and we are following these up.

"We also hope that with the updated detail of his clothing people who were in the area may remember seeing him.

"We are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have seen him to contact police on 101. We would also be keen to speak to people who may have recently been out walking or running in the Beinn Eighe, Beinn Dearg, Beinn Alligin and Liathach areas."

Police Scotland is co-ordinating the search with assistance from multi-agency partners. The resources involved in the search today (Saturday) include the Coastguard helicopter, RAF MRT, Torridon MRT, Dundonnell MRT, Kintail MRT and SARDA and police dogs.

If anyone has seen Mr Brett, or may have information regarding his whereabouts, they are urged to contact police on 101 with information.
