ANOTHER Easter Ross care home has reported twelve cases of Covid among residents and staff.

NHS Highland confirmed that Mull Hall care home has reported eight cases among residents and four among staff.

The independent care home is operated by Sanctuary Care, who also operate Kintyre House in Dingwall.

Kintrye house has, sadly, reported seven deaths among residents since that earlier outbreak was notified.

In a statement an NHS Highland spokesman said: "NHS Highland has been notified of eight cases of Covid-19 infection in residents of Mull Hall independent care home. There have also been four cases in staff members.

"NHS Highland’s Health Protection Team are working with health and social care colleagues, as well as local community nursing teams and local General Practitioners to support the care home and to try to prevent any further spread of Covid-19 within the care home and the wider community.

"As part of this work the Health Protection Team are carrying out enhanced monitoring of staff and residents.

"NHS Highland can confirm that the residents at Mull Hall have completed the first round of Covid-19 vaccinations. Protection for an individual following vaccination may take two or more weeks to develop and the extent to which vaccination prevents spread of Covid-19 is still unclear.

"Contact tracing has been undertaken with the affected staff members and all cases are isolating in keeping with national guidance.

"Outbreak control measures are in place and the required infection, prevention and control measures have been reinforced.

He added: "An NHS Highland support team has also been made available to assist the owners of the home."
