Inverness and Cromarty Firth Freeport tax relief milestone hailed by Secretary of State for Scotland, Alister Jack

A milestone day for the region’s freeport has been hailed by a leading politician who believes the Highlands are “already seeing the benefits”.

Alister Jack, the Secretary of State for Scotland was commenting as tax relief came into force for the Inverness & Cromarty Firth Green Freeport,

He said: "This is a major milestone for the Inverness and Cromarty Firth Freeport with tax reliefs starting today. It means businesses operating in the Freeport can really power on and bring investment, trade and jobs to the region.

"It has taken a huge effort from everyone involved to get to this point. There is still a lot of work ahead but I am delighted we are already seeing the benefits with new companies being welcomed to the area.

"The Inverness and Cromarty Firth Freeport is poised for great success into the future - all the more so thanks to the Chancellor's decision in the Budget to extend tax reliefs from five to ten years."
