Verity and her daughter Matilda check out some recipes from the 1810 Cookbook ahead of the big night

1810 meets 2012 in Fortrose on Friday when a popular local restaurant takes a 202-year step back in time to help raise funds for the next Black Isle Music (BIM) project.

Jim and Anne Anderson are two of many hotel and guest house owners in the area to benefit from accommodating BIM participants last time and they have offered to put on a special evening to help fund-raising efforts.

Almost 200 copies of the 1810 Cookbook — compiled originally by Jane Winnington-Ingram and edited by her great-great-great grand-daughter, Verity Walker, who helps to run BIM Projects — have been sold since its launch at another BIM fund-raising venture last year.

Now Anne Anderson has delved into the hand-written script to come up with a mouth-watering 1810 menu.

Said Verity: “The team is already busy fundraising, through our ‘Scone to Heaven’ Community market stall, for example. It’s a huge help when members of the community who benefit from BIM events, like the Andersons, offer to put something back into the fundraising efforts for the next one too. Personally I am looking forward to an evening of enjoying my family recipes without having to cook them myself for once – Anne is a great chef and I am eager to see what her interpretation of these classic dishes will be.

“For the ‘fearties’ at your table, there will also be a full Anderson menu available. Jim will ensure that appropriate wines are on tap and that the background music dates from no later than 1810.”

Signed copies of the 1810 Cookbook will also be available at £18 a pop and there will be a foodie table quiz on offer to get the brain cells working as you dine.
