Former Gairloch woman Alexandra Warren Rothwell fashions a bright future as she launches new venture AB Accessories

A HIGHLAND woman is expanding her business with a new venture.
Alexandra Warren Rothwell, who is 25, grew up in Gairloch and moved to the Highland capital 10 years ago.
The self-taught designer, who set up Alexandra Bespoke four years ago, specialises in designing and creating bridal hair accessories and custom-painted leather jackets.
She said the concept of her new venture – AB Accessories – evolved from the work she did designing for brides. She said: “I want to create a fashion accessory brand that is wearable from day to evening.
“Moving away from the traditional, more subtle tones of bridal pieces, AB Accessories will be bright, bold and eye-catching.
“I design and create all the pieces myself, offering a range of velvet headbands, sterling silver jewellery using a mix of genuine freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals, and I will also be offering some gorgeous one-of-a-kind clay earrings.
“I love creating pieces that are unique with just a hint of quirkiness to them.
“Designing is my passion and I feel very fortunate to have found my passion at such a young age. Channeling my art into something people can wear is just amazing to me.”
Ms Warren Rothwell said that in recent unusual times, she had definitely had to think outside the box in terms of marketing, and added: “I didn’t feel it would be right to arrange a photoshoot during a pandemic so instead I have enlisted the help of friends and family.
“I have sent out 15 sample boxes to a range of girls who have modelled for me before at the Inverness Courier Highland Wedding Fair and in various collaborative projects with Rococo Studios and John Baikie Photography.
“The girls each have a range of hair accessories and jewellery and I have asked them to take their own pictures of themselves modelling the new designs. When I have all the photos back I will have a fun mix of natural images that I can share across social media – all showing that a pandemic isn’t going to stop anyone from looking fabulous.”
Her accessories and products will be stocked in Rococo Studios, in Inverness, and at The Potter’s House Pottery Gift Shop in Muir of Ord.
