The Foreign Secretary said he would not pre-empt a planned address by the Prime Minister on Sunday.

In response to questions at today's Downing Street coronavirus briefing the Foreign Secretary said there were no changes to lockdown measures at the moment.

There was widespread speculation in the press today about a possible easing in restrictions from Monday.

Dominic Raab was asked whether it might be confusing for people, on that basis, that they could not go sunbathing over the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend.

"We have to take decisions at the right moment in time based on the evidence, and what is reported in newspapers is not a reliable guide either to what evidence we are getting or what decisions we will make," he said.

Earlier today First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said it was too early to consider lifting lockdown measures in Scotland.

The UK Covid-19 death toll now stands at 30,615, with a further 539 deaths recorded since yesterday.
