Highland community council calls on mourners to come out in Chelsea and Clachnacuddin colours to show support for family of well-loved shopkeeper George Rodgers

A community council wants people to come out on Friday, August 20 between 11.35am – 11.50am in Merkinch to send off a hero.
Asking people from across the city to come along, asking them to remain socially distanced, to say a final farewell to George Rodgers (61) who was a popular shopkeeper, and former baker from Inverness.
The funeral is being held on Friday August 20 at 11am in the funeral home of John Fraser and Son on Chapel Street.
The funeral is open to anyone who would like to attend.
Mr Rodger's funeral cortège will then travel though Merinch pausing at his newsagents on Grant Street, Merkinch School and Clachnacuddin Football Club.

A Merkinch Community Council spokeswoman said: "We are asking any locals and businesses or anyone in Inverness to line up the streets after George's funeral on Friday.
"We plan to gather from the Black Bridge on Grant Street to past the Clachnacuddin FC and applaud him as he passes.
"We would love it if people wore Chelsea or Clach strips or scarves."
She added: "We are doing this out of respect for all of his hard dedicated work over the years. We also want to show his family support and give George a proper hero's send off.
"This guy was a legend and major part of the community and will be missed by thousands."
