SCOTS have been urged by the First Minister to stick to original Covid-19 advice and "Stay Home, Save Lives".

Nicola Sturgeon made the remarks minutes ago following controversy over a new slogan drawn up by the UK government.

The new UK government slogan appeared late last night on early front pages for The Sunday Telegraph, ahead of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's televised Covid-19 lockdown update on Sunday evening.

But the line "Stay Alert, Control the Virus, Save Lives" was heavily criticised as being "dangerously ambiguous" by some Highland MPs.

And First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has now advised the Scottish people that her "clear message" remained "Stay Home, Save Lives".

Taking to Twitter shortly before 9am, she said: "The Sunday papers is the first I’ve seen of the PM’s new slogan. It is of course for him to decide what’s most appropriate for England, but given the critical point we are at in tackling the virus, #StayHomeSaveLives remains my clear message to Scotland at this stage."
