A TEENAGER who got stuck in a swing called on the emergency services to help set her free.

The 13-year-old from Invergordon was helped out the swing in Saltburn Park by her local fire officers who used a toolbox to help her step out of the toddler-sized equipment.

Hannah Mitchell, who later thanked the fire service on social media, called on the fire service when she got herself stuck in the swing designed for children up to age five.

Saying "kids will be kids", Invergordon Fire Service tweeted its involvement in the incident. It said: "Called to a teenager stuck in a swing at Saltburn Park, Invergordon. One 13-year-old female released from swing by standing on our tool box and assisted by firefighters."

The social media post signed off with "never too old for a swing."

The Invergordon Academy pupil retweeted the post and said: "Thanks for helping me."

Later on, her mum Nicola Mitchell also thanked the fire crew. She said: "Shamed. Thanks for helping Hannah guys much appreciated."

And she saw the funny side: "Rolling on the floor laughing. Hope she gave you all a good laugh back at the station."

Invergordon-based Mark Loynd, group manager with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, said: "These things don't happen very often at all. I have 23-and-a-half years service and I have never heard of anyone having to be rescued from a swing.

"I once had to rescue a boy from a tree in Shetland, and there are hardly any trees there. But no, I have never been to a swing rescue."
