AN EASTER Ross fire crew was called into action in the late hours of Monday for a fire located in an industrial area.

Invergordon Fire Station tweeted yesterday that they were in attendance with two pumps to tackle a blaze within an industrial dryer and chimney stack at a combined heat and power plant at Cromarty Firth industrial park.

The team was back at the station by 2.30am.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 11.28pm on Monday, October 10 to reports of a building fire at an industrial park at Cromarty Firth.

"Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene to extinguish the fire and make the area safe.

"There were no reported casualties."

Following a request by the Ross-shire Journal, SFRS has not provided details of the premises concerned.
