Five fire crews from across the region are battling two fires in the same area of Ross–Shire.

The fires at Tarvie, near Contin are covering 900 metres and 150 metres.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said crews were "making good progress".

She continued: "We were called to a fire in Tarvie at 1.36pm, and we are currently still at the scene.

"We are making good progress. There are five crews on the scene – two from Dingwall, one from Beauly, Inverness and Cromarty.

"The fires are in two locations. One is 150 metres spread and one is 900 metres spread.

"We are currently using napsack sprayers, beaters and an Alpine pump to dampen down the fire and bring it under control."
