THREE fire engines were called to an industrial fire in a Ross-shire quarry on Friday morning.

Both appliances from Invergordon, and the aerial ladder platform from Inverness, attended Caplich quarry in Alness shortly after 7.30am.

The fire was in an industrial dryer/hopper, which was successfully extinguished.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “Both [Invergordon] pumps were mobilised to a fire in an industrial dryer at Caplich quarry in Alness. [The] incident commander requested the aerial ladder platform from Inverness to access the top of a hopper to extinguish the fire, which was in filter bags.”
