A ROSS-SHIRE museum dedicated to preserving the experience of children down the years closed its season in fitting fashion with a special festive invitation.

The Highland Museum of Childhood is based at the old Victorian railway station in the spa village of Strathpeffer and contains a treasure trove of items – including toys and dolls – that have been popular with kids down the years.

The well-received event prompted thanks from some of those taking part. Jillian Quigley posted: "Thank you for a fun treasure hunt. We all had a lovely time."

The museum said it "was lovely to see so many folk in the museum and around the Old Station".

It is now closed until spring.
