Cinema-goers are in for a treat with festive films back on the agenda as Vue in Inverness prepares to reopen its doors on December 16.

As Christmas is set to look different than usual this year, the cinema says families can still enjoy the tradition of a trip to see a festive film in a safe and fun environment.

Festive offerings will include Home Alone and The Muppets Christmas Carol.

For those unable to be with loved ones in other parts of the country, the UK cinema chain is also offering shared screenings of a range of films showing at the same time across its venues so customers can share the enjoyment with those in other places.

Barry Laird, general manager at Vue Inverness, said: "We’re truly thrilled be re-opening for Christmas and to be able to bring a full list of Christmas films back to the big screen.

"With this being a year like no other, and so much of the Christmas build-up being different for so many people, we believe that a trip to the cinema to see a festive film is the perfect form of escapism and a way to get into the Christmas spirit in a safe way.

"With Christmas tradition and togetherness being so important for our customers, we have worked on new ways for them to share the wonder together this Christmas.

"For the first time we have planned our schedules across the UK for some favourite films to start at the same time everywhere, with these shared screenings allowing you to experience the escapism of the big screen with your family and friends, wherever they may be.

"We know how much the community and local economy depends on our doors being open, and we look forward to serving customers at our site as soon as we are able to do so."

New research conducted by Vue found four in 10 people predicting this Christmas to be more stressful than last year, with reasons including uncertainty about being able to see their family and fear that it will be "less magical than usual".

However, 63 per cent of people say that their first festive film of the year marks the official start of Christmas.

The festive films being screened at Vue include Frozen and Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas while Disney’s From Our Family to Yours will be screening exclusively on the big screen before each Disney Christmas Classic.
