A former quarry on the Black Isle looks set to be sold by Highland Council after it put it on the market.

Whinhill Quarry, near Rosemarkie, has been used as a "compact" depot by the local authority, which stored roads department materials on site.

But it is now looking to offload the land, which covers a little more than two hectares, with offers over £20,000 being invited by the December 11 deadline.

"[The site] comprises the original quarry space for materials storage," said the council. "The site offers versatility for potential uses, subject to planning permission and the necessary remedial works on the rock slopes within the quarry for the intended use. A slope stability assessment is available upon request."

The former quarry is located just off the A832 Rosemarkie-Cromarty road, between Rosemarkie and the turn-off for the minor road to Balmungie, Craighead and Eathie.

Formal offers should be submitted by email to property.offers@highland.gov.uk by no later than 5pm on December 11.
