'Extreme' 100mph wind forecast sparks red 'danger to life' Storm Isha warning from Met Office for parts of Highlands

A rare red weather warning for extreme winds has been issued for parts of the Highlands.
The Met Office issued the alert shortly before midnight for Caithness, eastern Sutherland, Easter Ross, the eastern tip of the Black Isle, Nairn, Moray and northern Aberdeenshire.
Wind gusts of up to 100mph are being forecast, with the alert in place from 1am to 5am.

A Met Office spokesperson has warned that the gusts will be life-threatening and could lead to "structural damage and disruption".
They said: "A short spell of extremely strong westerly winds will affect a small area of northern Scotland early on Monday. Gusts of 90 to 100 mph are likely for a brief time, bringing a risk of damage, disruption and a danger to life.
"Winds will steadily moderate through Monday morning but will remain strong.
"Keep yourself and others safe. Avoid travelling by road during potentially dangerous conditions. It is not safe to drive in these conditions."
The red warning comes amid a wider amber warning for strong gales that covers the whole of the Highlands and will remain in force until 6am on Monday.
