Climate change protesters are planning "socially distanced action" in Ross-shire this week.

Extinction Rebellion (XR) Highland is set to take a stand in Dingwall High Street (9am) and Falcon Square, Inverness (11.15am) on Thursday.

It has been prompted by the Committee for Climate Change being set to deliver its annual report to the UK government on Thursday – and protesters expect it will state little progress since last year.

Members of XR Highland – and other XR groups across Britain – are writing to MPs and MSPs urging them to speak out in parliament and in their constituencies to highlight the urgent need for a green Covid-19 recovery.

XR Highland's Kate MacLachlan said: "We believe there is a very small window for intervention."
