Caley Thistle is pushing hard to bring in new investment or find a buyer with board member Graeme Bennett saying “if not then we are going to go under” describing a recent statement as a “cry for help” for what remains a “good brand”.

In an exclusive interview with The Inverness Courier, club stalwart Mr Bennett confirmed how despite Scot Gardiner resigning as chief executive he is leading the drive to find new investments or a new owner.

The Courier understands that there have been a number of parties who have expressed an interest not just in investing but in buying the club as talks continue amid a dark period for the club.

So now the principal task is keeping the club afloat, Mr Bennett believes they have a good chance, saying: “Inverness is a good brand. There are a few buyers or investors interested.”

He continued: “I would say we are a whole-hearted club, I would be convinced that any new investor could take full control of the club. I don’t think any shareholder – including my family – would have any problem with that.

“There is a lot of value to investing in the club, they would be getting a good deal. We are in a position where we need investment, right now we just need a wee hand from somewhere.

“The statement we issued made it like a war-cry – is there isn’t anybody out there because if not then we are going to go under.”

He added: “I think we have had a positive reaction to our statement. It is a cry for help, but we are not going to tell lies. At the end of the day we are in a predicament, is there anybody out there who can help us?”
