Entrance to Strathpeffer hotel cordoned off after police called on scene for suspected explosives

THE entrance to a Ross-shire hotel has been closed by police following reports of suspected explosive items on the grounds.

Police were called earlier this afternoon to Ben Wyvis Hotel and remain on the scene at the time of writing.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit has been contacted.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report that two ordnance items were found in the grounds of a property on Main Street, Strathpeffer, around 2.30pm on Wednesday, May 10.

“Officers remain at the scene and EOD have been contacted.”

A Ben Wyvis Hotel spokesperson said they are unable to comment at this time.
