EIGHT-year-old Ross-shire lass Thomasin Campbell climbed her way to a plucky £500 charity boost after scaling the equivalent of 1,404 ft in an hour.

The Dingwall girl pushed herself in support of Transmission Mongolia, an epic 9,000-mile motorcycle adventure for charity, in which dad Garry (42) is participating.

Thomasin scaled the eight-metre climbing wall at Inverness Leisure Centre a staggering 54 times under the watchful eyes of instructors there.

Garry Campbell, Jonathan Coats (28), and Quintin Stevens (37) will spend 4,000 of those miles off-road riding unknown and often dangerous terrain, aiming to complete the journey in just one month.

Proceeds from the trek will go towards Marie Curie, The Raigmore Renal Unit, The Highland Hospice and Mind.

Father Garry, of Docharty Far, Dingwall, said: "Thomasin’s climbing challenge has really spurred us on to meet our £50,000 target. Over the past few weeks we’ve seen some great support from fundraising events we’ve held with friends and families, and we’re also getting a lot of support from local businesses and awareness of our challenge is growing.

"We can all learn a lot of Thomasin’s energy and enthusiasm, and I hope myself and the boys have what it takes to make everyone very proud and make a small difference by contributing to four excellent charities."

The young schoolgirl’s fundraising doesn’t stop there as she has Dingwall Primary School geared up for an optional dress down day later this month.
