A father of three smoked cannabis the night before getting into his vehicle.

But 41-year-old Nigg welder Fraser Condon was caught in a police speed trap near Conon Bridge on July 31, 2021 and tested positive for the drug, Inverness Sheriff Court heard.

He admitted drug driving with 2.9mcgs of cannabis in his system when the safe limit is 2mcgs.

Condon was fined £370 and disqualified for a year.

Fiscal depute Victoria Silver said the officers noticed the smell of the Class C drug after they stopped his vehicle for exceeding the speed limit.

Defence solicitor John MacColl told retired Sheriff David Sutherland: "He didn't expect the cannabis to still be in his system.

"He was only a little over the limit. It was a mistake rather than a wilful violation."
