SMALL businesses, crafters and initiatives will come together at an Easter Ross event set to highlight the profile of the area.

A new event organised by Evanton Community Trust will see local entrepreneurs showcase their businesses and talents at a new event to be held at Victoria Diamond Jubilee Hall on Sunday, October 2.

The Evanton Initiatives, crafters and businesses showcase event was conceived to raise the profile of the village

Gabrielle Buist, community development officer at Evanton Community Trust, said that the idea sparked during summer this year from a local business owner.

She said: "We were approached by local microbusiness owner, Emily Roberts, who saw Evanton referred to as a 'commuting town' on Wikipedia, and we thought that was not the case as there are so many people that live and work here and have their own business.

"It was her idea to bring together all the different businesses and celebrate and highlight how vibrant Evanton is.

"We decided to see how many small businesses and crafts there were and we counted 50 different businesses and initiatives in the area, which is quite a big number for being in this tiny town with a small population.

"As a trust we wanted to highlight the talent and services available in town, and expecially as we head towards difficult times with the cost of living crisis, we wanted to make a point and encourage people to support the local economy and people."
