AN Easter Ross energy firm is seeking permission to build 10 temporary cabins to help it cope with Covid-19 requirements on land at its spoolbase industrial site near Evanton.

TechnipFMC, which is based at Newton Road South on the Deephaven Industrial Estate, has applied to Highland Council for temporary planning permission for the proposal.

In the application form the company states that the temporary permission would be required until it was considered safe to remove structures.

The site is described as an existing building structure and yard.

TechnipFMC, which is an American-French global oil and gas company, recently applied to the council to build an insulation shed at the site. The firm is described as a global leader in the energy industry; delivering projects, products, technologies and services.

The company has previously been criticised by Highland Council for seeking retrospective approval for buildings it has completed.
