Alness Academy, now in new buildings, is looking ahead to the next academic term with its repurposed raffle.

AN Easter Ross secondary school which recently moved into new buildings is looking ahead to brighter times for the start of a new academic year.

Due to the ongoing pandemic the Alness Academy's Parent Council made the difficult decision to cancel the Final Fling event after rescheduling it a number of times. The school said: "As a result, no funds have been raised in over a year.

"We have many items that were donated for a raffle which was due to be held on the night, so with the help of local business continuing to donate prizes we thought we would hold a new raffle before the end of term.We are hoping to start the new academic year in the new building with some funds in the bank so we can support the students as the lockdown restrictions ease."

Generous donations to date include a handmade house from Highland Fairy Doors; personalised Scrabble art by Sharon Slupek; a Fyrish hand painted picture by Katherine Sutherland and a bouncy castle voucher from Alness Entertainment Services.

The school said: "Thank you all for your very kind donations. As we can not exchange cash for tickets, we are going to hold this virtually. For every £1 you donate, you will be allocated a ticket number. We will hold the draw live on Friday, June18 with the intention of having all prizes delivered/collected by Friday, June 25."

Anyone interested in tickets is asked to message either Lindsay Richardson or Fionn Pittman.
